Project Scope
Sibanye Stillwater (formally New Century Resources) engaged MCA Engineering to undertake a comprehensive condition assessment and engineering upgrade study for the Mt Lyell Copper Mine in Tasmania. The objective was to determine the viability of recommissioning the operation and to quantify the investment required to modernise the entire underground materials handling and hoisting system.
Between 2023 and 2025, MCA Engineering delivered a multi-disciplinary study covering materials handling, shaft infrastructure, hoisting systems, civil and SMP interfaces, and long-term asset replacement planning.
