MCA Engineering delivered the full structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) installation for a new underground crushing and materials handling system at a regional NSW mine site. The scope included construction and fit-out of an underground crusher station, ROM and COB material handling infrastructure, major mechanical components, services and supporting electrical installations within a live underground operation.
The client needed a new underground crushing and materials handling system installed within a deep, active underground environment under strict safety constraints. Coordinating structural, mechanical, piping and electrical scopes in a confined underground setting, while protecting programme and safety performance, required a contractor capable of self-performing across every discipline without compromising quality or schedule.
MCA self-performed the full SMP scope using its own crews and equipment, managing structural steel, mechanical installation, piping and electrical works as a single, coordinated programme. Deep underground construction experience and rigorous safety planning allowed the team to sequence the crusher station and ore pass installation efficiently, maintaining quality and safety standards throughout.
MCA completed the underground crusher station and ore pass installation ahead of the estimated man-hours, with zero incidents recorded and excellent quality performance maintained throughout. The client received a fully operational underground crushing and materials handling system delivered safely and efficiently, reinforcing confidence in MCA’s underground SMP capability for future projects.
