MCA Engineering was engaged by Byrnecut Mining to fabricate the underground mine sinking stage for the Prominent Hill operation in South Australia. Built to general arrangement and current model specifications, the stage forms critical infrastructure supporting ongoing shaft sinking works, reflecting MCA’s structural fabrication capability and its established subcontracting relationship with Byrnecut.
Byrnecut required a precisely fabricated sinking stage matching exact GA and model specifications to support shaft sinking operations at Prominent Hill. The scope demanded structural fabrication alongside mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fitout, plus a non-standard handrail system, all needing to meet strict quality and paint specification standards for a demanding underground mining application.
MCA supplied and fabricated the structural steel to specification, then installed mechanical, electrical and hydraulic brackets and fixings directly to the structure. The team applied MCA’s recommended paint specification and fabricated the non-standard handrail system, managing the full scope in-house to ensure the finished stage met Byrnecut’s exact structural and operational requirements.
MCA delivered a fully fabricated sinking stage, complete with mechanical, electrical and hydraulic fixings, correct paint finish and a custom handrail system, ready for deployment at Prominent Hill. Byrnecut received purpose-built infrastructure manufactured to specification, supporting continued shaft sinking operations and reinforcing MCA’s reputation as a reliable fabrication subcontractor.
