MCA Engineering was engaged by Northparkes Mine to deliver the structural, mechanical and piping (SMP) construction of a new Surface Secondary Crusher near Parkes, NSW. Supplying labour and equipment under a self-managed model, MCA fielded a full management team, from Project Managers to Technical Advisors, to deliver the screen building, crusher building and conveyor handling system.
Northparkes needed a self-managed contractor capable of supplying labour, equipment and a full project management structure to deliver a complex secondary crusher upgrade. The scope spanned multiple interconnected structures and systems, screen building, crusher building and conveyor handling, requiring careful sequencing and coordination, including tie-ins completed within planned outage windows.
MCA self-managed the full labour and equipment supply, fielding Project Managers and Technical Advisors alongside site crews. The team delivered the screen building SMP including the banana screen, storage bins, handling and dust scrubber systems; the crusher building SMP including the crusher, dust scrubber and storage infrastructure; and the conveyor handling system, including gantry and ground modules and outage tie-ins.
MCA delivered the Surface Secondary Crusher project across all three major structures on schedule and within planned outage windows. Northparkes received a fully integrated crusher, screen and conveyor handling system delivered under a self-managed labour and equipment model, demonstrating MCA’s capacity to run large-scale SMP construction programmes with its own management team.
